Das Unternehmen Local Motors hat sich vorgenommen, in nur fünf Tagen ein Elektroauto aus einem 3D-Drucker entstehen zu lassen. Das Ereignis soll auf der Messe International Manufacturing Technology Show 2014 in Chicago stattfinden und die Besucher können live dabei sein.

Mit den sogenannten 3D-Druckern kann man heutzutage je nach Art des Druckers bereits sehr vieles herstellen: Ersatzteile, Spielfiguren, kleine 3D-Figuren von sich selbst, Waffen und Autoteile.
Nun soll ein komplett neues Elektrofahrzeug während der Messe entstehen, als Ausgangslage soll es nur die digitalen Pläne im PC und das Ausgangsmaterial für den Drucker geben.

Bei dem US-Unternehmen Local Motors handelt es sich um eine Gemeinschaft internationaler Designer, Ingenieure und Produzenten und die wollen ein Elektroauto auf der International Manufacturing Technology Show 2014 im September live ausdrucken.

Für den kompletten Vorgang hat das Unternehmen sechs Tage Zeit, das so gefertigte Stromer soll besonders sicher, leicht und aufgrund seines elektrischen Antriebs auch besonders effizient sein.

Im Jahr 2012 hat die US-Firma auf der sechstägigen International Manufacturing Technology Show 2012 den offroadtaugliche Rally Fighter aus vorgefertigten Teilen zusammen gebaut.

Das Projekt klingt ganz interessant, aber auch wenn man bereits metallische Teile mit einem 3D-Drucker herstellen kann, wird man meiner Meinung nach nicht das komplette Elektrofahrzeug aus dem Stromer herstellen können.
So vermute ich, dass der Elektromotor, die Batterieeinheit und die beweglichen Teile nicht aus dem Drucker stammen werden.

Aber trotzdem ist das ein sehr interessantes Projekt, was mal wieder die technischen Möglichkeiten zeigt.

Denn so kann man zum Beispiel viel einfacher Fahrzeuge für den Weltraum bzw. zukünftige Missionen zum Mars oder andere Weltraummissionen bei dem neuen Einsatzort anfertigen. Bisher musste das komplette Fahrzeug erst zum Mond, Mars, etc. komplett montiert transportiert werden. In Zukunft müsste es dort nur ein oder mehrere 3D-Drucker und Roboter geben, welche die Teile zusammenfügen.
Die Energiespeicher könnte man bereits komplett montiert zum Missionsziel schicken, die Ausgangsmaterialien ließen sich dann viel einfacher und Platzsparender transportieren.

Auf der Erde wird es in naher Zukunft für Unternehmen sicherlich viel einfacher sein, erste Konzeptstudien herzustellen.

Da die Preise für den Privatgebrauch extrem gesunken sind, erhält man sogar schon kleine 3D-Drucker für etwa 300 Euro. Aber man benötigt auch das Ausgangsmaterial und es ist wie mit vielen Geräten, wer ein sehr günstiges Gerät kauft, ärgert sich häufig über Probleme.

    Ich bezweifle, dass man ein ganzes Elektroauto innerhalb von 5 Tagen ausdrucken kann. Das ist viel zu wenig Zeit. Wer schon mal einen 3D Drucker drucken gesehen hat, weiß wie lange das dauert schicht für schicht aufzutragen. Aber wenn es klappt: Respekt!

    Sehr interessant. Weiß jemand ob das geklappt hat. 5 Tage sind echt sportlich. Wobei man sich je denken kann, dass dieser Drucker in einer ganz anderen Liga spielt, wie die „normalen“ 3D-Drucker. Vorstellen könnte ich mir das schon. Zumal das Drucken langfristig sicherlich günstiger ist. Vor allem bei Prototypen lohnt sich das Drucken auf jeden Fall – auch wenn es länger dauert.

    Vielleicht ja wirklich das Auto der Zukunft! Jedoch nicht bevor diese Autos sicher und produktionsreif sind. Ich bin gespannt, welcher Hersteller die Nase vorne haben wird. LG

    Ich glaube nicht das Autos in absehbarer Zeit per 3D-Drucker gedruckt werden können. Allerdings bin ich der Meinung das der 3D Druck immer wichtiger wird. Deshalb ist es nicht unwahrscheinlich, dass irgendwann auch Autos mit einem 3D-Drucker angefertigt werden können.
